The Smart Agriculture Cultivation and Growth Box is an IoT‑plus‑agriculture educational kit designed for vocational colleges. Set against the backdrop of the valuable medicinal herb Dendrobium officinale, it fully replicates the closed-loop process of “sensing–decision‑making–execution–cloud.”
The enclosure integrates five types of sensors—carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity, light intensity, soil moisture, and water level—to continuously collect microenvironmental data. A 0.96-inch OLED display provides local real-time readings, while MQTT‑based communication enables second‑level synchronization to an Android app, enabling remote visualization.
The execution unit comprises a 5V water pump, a 5V fan, an LED color strip, an atomizer, and an active buzzer, all safely driven by single- or dual‑channel relays. Through the app, users can issue one‑tap commands to perform watering, ventilation, supplemental lighting, humidification, and other operations, with support for scheduled routines. The LED strip also features intelligent temperature‑based color switching: blue in low temperatures, green at optimal levels, and red when conditions are too hot, providing a clear visual indication of crop comfort. When sensor readings exceed preset thresholds, the buzzer triggers an immediate audible and visual alarm, safeguarding your delicate Dendrobium orchids.
The complete system comes with full source code and a hands-on training manual, enabling students to conduct a wide range of educational experiments in microcontrollers, sensors, wireless communication, cloud platforms, and more. Moreover, it allows students to personally cultivate a healthy Dendrobium orchid, truly bringing the classroom into the greenhouse and connecting data to the cloud.
