Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School is the only public secondary vocational school directly under the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, specializing primarily in intelligent manufacturing. Established in 1958, the school has a history of over six decades and has trained more than 40,000 highly skilled technical professionals. It is among the first batch of national key secondary vocational schools and a designated institution for building high‑level secondary vocational programs in Guangdong Province. Its curriculum is closely aligned with the manufacturing sector, supporting the transformation and upgrading of the light industry. The school offers programs in traditional folk crafts, cultivating a distinctive educational focus on intangible cultural heritage. Actively engaged in international cooperation and exchange, it serves as a member of the National Craftsman Alliance (Asia‑Pacific region), an ABB Robotics certification and training center, and an Intel AI teacher‑training and research base. It also collaborates internationally with institutions such as Northern Institute of Technology in New Zealand and Namseoul University in South Korea.

Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School has established a Digital Manufacturing Training Center, creating an integrated smart manufacturing training base that seamlessly combines industry, education, training, competitions, research, and innovation. The project is equipped with core facilities including an intelligent production line and digital twin integrated application training platform, industrial automation electrical and control training workstations, electrical skills training and certification devices, and a digital teaching resource package. The training center supports vocational skill assessments for roles such as IoT installation and commissioning technicians and industrial Internet engineering professionals, thereby fostering the development of the institution’s high‑level smart manufacturing program cluster and promoting high‑quality employment of regional industry talent.
